Surprise for Dad's Birthday!!

Well, I did a dedication for my dear daddy.. and I believe he really enjoyed a week long worth of birthday celebration.. He had a birthday dinner with office staffs and his cycling mates and knowing that mum might gather the family relatives together over the weekend, I secretly made arrangements with my cousin, Wei Ting and also Juliana, a junior from high school who helped her mum set up Cake Crumb, a home business of making cakes and cupcakes. So, I ordered 54 cupcakes since Dad turned 54, with HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY - C.L. TAN with some horse stamps as Dad's chinese zodiac is horse.

This is the cupcakes I ordered for DADDY!!

Mum lighting the cupcakes.. with my little niece..Wen Ni

Knowing my dad would read my blog occasionally... I would like to take this opportunity to wish him ....

A simple dedication using my currently still new sugar crafting skills..done with my bare hands.. I'm sorry i couldn't do cupcakes for you.. as if i do.. it would rot by the time it got back to Malaysia.. but this is the least I could so.. \

Daddy,
I know I may not be the best daughter in the world.. but I'm very glad that you are my father.
Thanks for standing by my side whenever I needed advice and guidances and also supported my decisions in whatever I do. I'm sorry that at times I make you disappointed with me. But thanks for not giving up on me. I will definitely do my best to achieve something that make you proud.

The last photo I took with my daddy this year.. back in February.. I will definitely capture more special moments with him next time I meet him or when I go back home...

ENJOY!!

Special Dedication to Team NSW of NCG 2008

I would like to post a special dedication to TEAM NSW that went to Brisbane, Queensland for NCG 2008. There have been a lot of heart attacks for me throughout the 3 days. Being one of the athletes and supporters this time around, I really felt that I contributed more during this NCG.

First was during netball, I am glad that dear captain let me play and I am glad she had faith in me and I know I am not as good as Farah my master, but I can dare say I did the best and prove myself. Though it was a close fight with Queensland, one point apart, it's crazy. When Queensland were leading the first 2 halves, questions keep playing in our head.. 'are we going to lose our champion title?'. The 3rd final half came and we just told ourselves, we do our best we can. And there we go, pulling the points closer to tie. I remember asking Nik Arif what's the score difference. The moment we tied it, I remember me yelling not to get the ball over my side as I was on the defence side.. it was luck on our side as well when the time is up and whistle went off. I had happy tears in my eyes.. THAT WAS CLOSE!!! Our team went all out to get the gold, Mei Jiun got her a light cut, Amanda ran onto our supporters to save a ball.. everything we never thought of. One gold in my hands..

When I thought one heart attack was enough for a day, the next one came just right after that. At soccer side, I was there to watch the guys played semis and finals. The finals was so touching when they scored twice then the Victorians head for a point in and there were times when they were so close to tie the game. When the whistle went off, we the supporters so happy that we hug each other. What touched me even more was when some of them cried happy tears as this is the first time we won soccer in many years. Mun told me how meaningful it was to him. Good Job done guys... That night we went back feeling so happy that we were leading the points tally with some performance from badminton, basketball guys and track & field. That night, the basketball girls ask me to join the team and try playing it and so i said i will try. And AGM was long winded but it was done before midnight.

The next day came, things did not start that well. While futsal guys were doing well, futsal girls was eager to retain the champion title. The futsal girls ended up with injuries like June, one of our bionic woman sprained her ankle and Aishah got hit on her nose. The guys managed to get into the finals but on penalty shootout, they only made it to 2nd place. While frisbee did not do well, volleyball had their controversies and ended up with 3rd place only. With June down with injuries, Amanda and I rushed to basketball venue to continue and try our best to get another gold. With Amanda, Mei Jiun and Jasmine, our team was in the run for the gold. Later that day, the rugby guys got another gold. By the end of the day, we weren't sure we will secure the overall champion title as all the medals were widely spread... but when the time came to announce, when it was announced that 3rd place went to Victoria, our faces went shocked, then 2nd place went to the host Queensland.. we immediately yelled already celebrating the victory!! NSW is the overall champion for NCG 2008, 2nd time in a row. Junda and Aishah were the happiest that they wanted to hug the cup to sleep.. ahha..

I would like to send my congratulations to MASCA NSW this year for organising the team well, congratulations to MASCA Queensland for organising it well and thanks to Kylie and Amanda for letting me part of the team for netball and basketball and get my 2 gold medals. In conclusion, the gold medals are heavy!! :P CHEERS FOR NSW!!!

Age of Glory

Thanks to my cousin, Wei Ting, I was introduced to one of the very few good quality Malaysian drama that is currently airing in Malaysia NTV 7 channel. It is called Age of Glory (Qing Qian Nan Yuan), featuring a life story of 3 girls as showgirls in Malaysia in the late 60s to 70s. Watching this drama really remind me of stories my mum used to tell about her childhood about rubber tapping, the hardship surviving in KL city and all. I think this drama portrait the whole culture of Malaysia in those days very well. Most interesting thing would be to listen to all the common language and dialects spoken in Malaysia, showing the multi-lingual culture we have. The 3 girls are acted by Debbie Goh, Danielle Dai and Aenie Wong. Together with them are Lee Meng Choong, famous Christopher Lee's brother, I once saw him at Star Search last time and Melvin Sia.

The other actors and actresses, some familiar and some not but all game up for this drama well. I remembered some of the older actors and actresses as I acted in one small part of a Malaysian drama before when I was only 7 years old. I can remember exactly how much I got that time for one afternoon of shooting, I got RM7. I think i was acting as one of the students in the classroom. Sadly, I did not get to watch that part I acted when it was aired as I miss its airing on one of the Chinese New Year.

Overall, great cast, great costume , great site, great theme song and great storyline. I hope these kind of quality drama will keep coming and allow people to see that Malaysia too can produce quality local dramas.

To share with you all, the opening song...

When do you feel most lonely??

I'm sorry as this would be some what an EMO post. Currently having a short break, I should be enjoying the break and do whatever I like!!!

However everything change in just one call from home last night. I knew yesterday was Tuan Wu Jie, what they call it as Dumpling Festival. Dad did smsed me that they will have family gathering from my mum's side of the family at our house in Bukit Rimau. I wanted to call home too but was not sure what time is best. So delayed since I had a small gathering with Mei Yen, Angeline and Chee Sing. We had our version of gathering in Sydney, doing steamboat.

Then when we were watching movie at my living room, suddenly the phone call came from home. Dad called and we chatted for a while and I actually forgotten my cousin Wei Ting's birthday is coming until my dad told me they are celebrating her birthday. Then I managed to catch up with her and found out she moved to the new house already and my other cousin starting her new job today. Then my little cousin bro talked to me also and what actually make me miss home so much was when i heard my nieces talked to me.. to my surprise the 2nd neice that only seen me once last CNY, she talked to me as if she know who am i. Then I talked to their grandmother, my aunt and from that moment, I started missing home a lot. By the time i talked to my mum, my voice went numb.

I really miss the big gathering we always had and now that my bro and I are all away from home, I actually felt the guilt, why I am still here when I could have gone back and be with my parents and my relatives. This is the time when I feel most lonely. Though I have friends and lucky to have them around me here in Sydney, but family love is something no one can replace.

Mesmerizing those moments,

Top to Bottom : Mummy, Daddy, Bro Panda, Cousin Wei Ting, Cousin Tze Cheng & Niece Ying Wen

That's all for now.. with all the love around.... <3>
